I am going to dare to be a bit critical here where most comments seem overly praising. This is not to say that it is not well written or unworthy of being read. This book is good for someone without any knowledge of Buddhism who wants to dip their toes in the water; however, for the truly curious, this will leave you wondering if you got any closer to following the practice. I felt that each section was so rudimentary and lacking of reference for further material that a quick Wikipedia search may have been equally as enlightening. Furthermore, I found the title of the text particularly misleading as it did not really teach the reader to "Become Stress & Anxiety Free." In summation, I felt that this text was more of a glossary of Buddhist ideas and terms which would be handy if nearby when reading more in-depth texts. After completing the book, I felt as though I had more questions than answers and was left desiring references to the Buddhist writings and teachings alluded to but never provided. In any event it is reasonably priced and well written for the beginner, so do not be afraid to give it a try; just be cautious that it may not give you the answers you are looking for as I have explained.

This is another well thought out and beautifully presented guide on Buddhism. I have been interested in Buddhism for some time and when I read a trilogy of books that featured a Buddhist, it rekindled my interest and I decided to study more. This was one of two books I bought for beginners. This book went into more detail. It was easy to understand and answered many questions I had about Buddhism.

An easy to read book, but often not easy to understand because of all the typos, grammatical issues, and confusion of terms. This book needs an editor.

A little disappointed as I’ve found a number of typos and spelling errors (and I am only on chapter four). Also, I will sometimes have to re-read sections as I find the flow rambles on and I will lose the point of what I’m reading. That being said, the author makes a lot of easy-to-understand analogies, so it is still useful for the beginner.

The book is a great breakdown is a simplistic and easy to read and understand blueprint for learning about Buddhism. Being new to Buddhism myself, this book lays the groundwork for how to begin living a more grounded and Buddhist way of livin.

This is a very good introductory book about Buddhism. This book is written in a simple language and easy to read. It would be nice to have a glossary of English translation of the ancient words at the back of the book. This book inspired me to read further about the subject.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my 19 year old daughter who is interested in learning about different religions. She’s already read half the book & tells me it’s well written.

If you are even thinking about Buddhism then this is a wonderful starter book. Easy to read and understand.

I am fortunate enough to live in Iowa City so I have seen Nate perform live. If anything, his own words understate the intensity that he brings to a performance; he is so much more than just a great magician. He is a world-class story-teller. And his skill shines on the page just as much as it does on stage.Even living here in Iowa City, and moving in the same circles as Nate, I learned so much about Nate's story. He tells his story in a way that is both breezy and emotionally powerful. Honestly, I am surprised by how well-written it is for a first book. Just as importantly, I think Nate's story has something for everyone. I am nearly twice his age, but the theme of searching for something that one has lost is universal. I am grateful to Nate for telling his story, as it has motivated me to take even more seriously my own search.

EVERYONE has something that they started off loving and over time lost the passion because it became work. Nate Staniforth’s booth “Here is Real Magic” is an honest journey through the eyes a humble and exceptionally talented human being. It is a beautiful, meaningful journey that Nate Staniforth brings you on, filled with emotion, frustration, fear, excitement, humour and most importantly, wonder. Nate's story is elegantly written, it is deep and thought provoking. The question of 'why' we do magic is something all magicians are plagued by at some point in their lives, and Nate puts into words, so many thoughts about the subject that I couldn't quite articulate at the time when I asked myself the same question. He prompts us to take a step back and really ask ourselves, what's the point? And although we each need to figure that out for ourselves, hearing, or rather reading, how someone else had this 'existential crisis' of sorts, and made it through, is something we as magicians need, in my opinion anyway.For non magicians:If you haven't seen Nate Staniforth's work, you are missing out on some of the most incredible magic/performances this world has ever seen. That aside, he has clearly also established himself as a capable and talented writer. Here Is Real Magic is a wonderful story about being an artist, about passion, about drive. It is a voyage of self discovery that Nate Staniforth does a fantastic job of steering through waves of emotion and narrative. I could go on for pages but all I will say is this;This book is about Nate Staniforth. It's wonderful, even if you're not into magic at all.I've found that I've experienced more childlike wonder since reading "Here is Real Magic", and I think I've been pretty good at cherishing that experience in the past.From a performers point of view it's delightful to see someone who puts as much thought into "wonder" as Nate does. Read this book - ESPECIALLY if you're in the magician's world, but even if you're not.I had several laugh out loud moments where I could get a clear picture of the situation and what Nate would be feeling at that time. I guess that means I got totally sucked into his world - the mark of a good writer.

Magician Nate Staniforth's search for wonder in today's world is a delightful one, in that it encourages us to retrieve our childhood sense of wonder in every day life (while he does the legwork). The book is about more than just magic and trickery, it's a reflective and inclusive work about how we view the world as adults, how we are encouraged not to see. And it's written in a casual, conversational style that never causes you to furrow your brow and search for philosophical quotes to back up the author's assertions. All the philosophy is here - the quotes, too - but Staniforth's prose is akin to having a chat with a childhood friend where everything is new and exciting. This is a real gem.

Nate's blend of authentic humanity and powerful, reflective writing have made this book a pleasure to read AND teach. I am using this masterpiece in a Composition class because the prose sings, not in some lilt heard from a dark recess at midnight, but as if AC/DC's Brian Johnson collaborated with Tree of Smoke author Dennis Johnson to craft a memoir length ballad of the importance of finding oneself. I know very little about the world of magic, but I know that I'll be first in line to pre-order any future books by Nate.

I found myself fascinated with Nate Staniforth’s take on finding wonder in a world that seems to have everything “figured out”. It’s a candid and refreshing look at the struggle of man to put meaning and passion back into his life.Much more than “a book about magic”, this true story follows the author on a captivating journey around the world that opened his eyes (and mine) to the amazing things around us that are far too easy to miss.I can’t wait to read his next book whenever it comes out!

Nate really captures what it is like to pursue your dreams while experiencing all the emotions, doubts, hurts and up and downs that come with it. The stories are vivid and relevant. Don’t be fooled by the title of his book here because although yes this is a retelling of his journey in touring as a magician, you can apply his life lessons to your own life no matter what you do. So much to say here. I had the pleasure of meeting Nate and getting my book signed at his show in New York. A very pleasant and humble guy. Thank you Nate for sharing your story.

The book came this morning and I just finished it after dinner it is an insightful book and a good primer to educate yourself about this great man. Nicola Tesla was one of the greatest minds to have ever lived. It is a shame that so few are educated on him. If you buy this book then you will understand it is your duty to pass the book to another. He has been written off, buried, and they did their best to erase him. If they would have followed him then, today Earth would be in a golden age. Anti-gravity, free wireless electricity, mankind spreading to other worlds, and not as the greedy parasites we are today. You might read this and say, this reviewer is nuts! Just take a minute and open your mind to this man and learn for yourself. If he lived today amongst those such as Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, Steve Jobs, I couldn't imagine what each new day would bring. To know this man is to know that your wildest dreams would be reality.

Tesla was a remarkable man not only for his inventions, but also for his dedication and application. It is amazing to read of his "inner life" in a way rarely shared. I was moved by his story and inspired by the clarity and insight he brought to everything in his own life and to the world around us. If you want to find out about his inventions there is scant detail here, but if you want to gain and insight into the genius and humanity this book provides a brief glimpse.

I have been a Tesla fan since I was in grade school but somehow had never read his autobiography until now. It's a great read and it is awesome to hear what he has to say straight from the source. He is an eloquent writer and organizes his thoughts very well. I felt like he was corresponding directly with me while reading this book. And, I learned things about him I had not read elsewhere. The book turns him from this mythical mad inventor and genius beyond humanity's capabilities into a real person. I read the book in two nights; it isn't very long and is interesting enough to binge read. I imagine many people will read the book in a single sitting. If you are a Tesla fan, absolutely read this book. Even if you are one of those boring and misinformed Edison fans, you'll dig this read.

This is an amazing first hand account from a heretofore semi forgotten genius. First at just 90 pages its a great and short intro to Nikola Tesla as told by Nikola Tesla.Originally written in 1919 there are few (possibly no) edits that I could surmise. This fact along with the the narrative style itself made it a somewhat challenging though highly authentic, informative and entertaining read.Of course Tesla is experiencing a bit of a Renaissance these days though still I was shocked to learn of his productivity and impact on the development of the world’s electrical equipment and power generation.Tesla was a genius right up there with other inventors and game changers of his time though he was clearly a bit eccentric and controversial which is likely why we don’t know as much about him as Edison, Ford, Einstein and other giants of the same era.This book works on a number of levels. For anyone interested in US or World history or technolgy or science or even if you are just interested in knowing a bit more about the man who Mr Elon Musk named his company and incomparable electric cars after this book is good investment of time and money (2.99 USD)

I'm fascinated with everything about Nikola Tesla right now. His autobiography from about 1919 is a short but enjoyable read. I really enjoy his account of his younger years, and something we don't get to see much is that he had a wicked sense of humor! The man had an unusual but exceptionally brilliant mind, and didn't get enough credit when he was alive. He thought of the system that we now know as the internet and was ridiculed at the time. The world wasn't ready for such an advanced technology. The book includes general information on many of his inventions, which are out of my expertise anyway. I'm here for the life story and social commentary, which I would always prefer for there to be more of. I would like to find his own words about making Mark Twain nearly soil himself on Tesla's oscillator. Embellished a little? Perhaps, as he was known to say such to the media. But it's still a good read.One thing I thought was ridiculous is the printing doesn't include a copyright page and the author photo on the back cover is pixelated. Otherwise, the content is good and the print font is easy to read.Edison sucks.

Tesla's autobiography may not be politically correct, but it is part of aLiberal arts curriculum.It is invaluable as psychohistory, to understand the mind of this great inventor.It doesn't hurt that it is fluidly written.I do not understand the technical aspects completely, since I have not studiedMath and physics beyond the high school level. Whatever university courses IHave taken, I have ignored.Tesla may have scoffed at the mystical dimensions, which I do not, since I have seenSome. Due to his empiricism, for the most part he was a clear-thinking man.A buy.
