great book shows most all of the popular patterns and licks i am using it in my teaching amost daily

Fred Sokolow put music theory in a way that even a newbie like me can understand. His methods allow me to get off the open chords and play more creatively. It's my second Sokolow book and I am very pleased with both of them.

Excellent scale book. Good for all scale fundamentals. This book will be in your reference library for scales for a long time

I'm getting more from this book as I go back to it, then lay off a few days, then go back. Its not the greatest book, probably others are better, but its helpful.

This is a good learning aid when trying to pick up this style of music playing. Some of the lessons are quick and don't really go in-depth (at least for myself) in explaining what some of the vocab is referring to. Teaches pertinent scale patterns along with song uses of the scales which is a big help. I think the book is fairly advanced, though admittedly I am very new to learning how to play guitar. Overall, a highly recommended piece of education and just downright fun!

I was expecting a little something different. This book is not as straight forward and tab based as I'd hoped it'd be.

The first time I saw Ellen, (I was looking for some English speech, because I am Russian and I needed a good speaking... It was maybe a year ago), was on her show. I Over 2013 - 2014 year I have been watching her TheEllenShow, hanging on her every monologs, laughing alone in my living room just seeing her face and of course dancing. From then on, she is the only actress-commedianne, who can make me laugh. Her book,"The Funny Thing Is..." became for me the grammar book and the dictionary of the English language that makes me happy. Essentially this book is one long author's sketch monologue. Very fun and extraordinary. Sparkling jokes are not without common sense. In addition to the remarkable book, I received a huge motivation for learning.

Loved both items and got them in time.They made wonderful gifts for Christmas.Glad I bought them and they arrived within the time limit I was told. As long as they were here that is all that matters. Thank you again Amazon for doing a great job.

I bought this book because I love and admire Ellen, but once I got into it, I found I had to admit it was a little boring. Ellen's gift is spontaneous one-liners delivered in short segments with audience participation, and her jokes seem to lose some vital element when written down. The humor seems forced and stiff. I'm happy I helped Ellen a little by buying her book, though!

I loved this. Ellen is an awesome storyteller with funny and witty stories. You can picture Ellen delivering all of these stories in her monlogue in her show. I found myself laughing inside. Not a bad book for 1.99. Get this and feel good.

I am a big Ellen Degeneres fan, this audio CD does her no justice. Although she reads it herself, much of her comedy is her impeccible sense of timing and her facial expressions that accompany her schtick. Obviously she can't use either of those tools with the audio CD. Hence, it comes across flat and lifeless. While the material is funny enough, I'm sure Ellen herself will admit, the delivery is the most important part of comedy. As anyone who has ever tried to tell a joke will attest it is all about timing and delivery.

Laughed out loud a few times, but overall it was disappointing. It might have been funnier just reading it myself. Her timing was too fast.

I was really excited to get started on this book, as I love watching Ellen. I think she has a great sense of humor and is such a warm person. However, this book left me disappointed. I got a few chuckles out of it, but I was expecting more. If you want to laugh, go for Tina Fey's "Bossypants" instead.

I have followed Ellen since she was on an obscure tv show many years ago, about a real estate company. She was the bumbling secretary. I have gotten all her books and watch her show as much as possible. As a conservative, some of her stances on issues are not my cup of tea. But there is no one funnier (except maybe Jane Lynch) and I love true funny.

I learned a lot about gun trafficking, the laws trying to regulate it and about Chicago and its subculture. But the main plot itself seemed a little too fragmented to me. The story contains a lot of depressing statistics and an insight into gangs’ psychology but author does not offer any new ideas for solving the problems, just an avalanche of depressing facts. It sure makes you think twice before visiting Chicago.I enjoyed audio version; the nice narrator voice and the right for me speed of reading. I also liked “listening while reading” option. I think it may be a great tool for teaching/improving language skills of adults and children (except this particular story is definitely targeted at the adult audience).PS. Okay so Davisons out of print but it's so much better (and called Group Theory For Chemists)! This book is a bit badly laid out, doesn't explain things very well and is pretty much useless unless you already have at least a simple grasp of Group Theory. I don't know what awful libraries you lot in Cleveland have but this is certainly not a particularly good book.
