Loved this volume! It's always a treat when you read a music critic who can impress you even when you disagree with some of his claims. The fundamental argument--that Oasis became the biggest band in the world in the mid-90s because, in part, they represented a surge of populist hope in the wake of the Thatcher regime--is thoroughly and convincingly explored. Niven's analysis of Definitely Maybe's sonic textures is fascinating and well written.On a less-than-half-serious note, Niven clearly has something against guitar solos--kind of bags on Noel Gallagher's ride-out solos on "Live Forever" and "Slide Away," songs he seems to consider otherwise perfect. As a guitarist who played these songs as a teenager in my high school rock band, I always enjoyed the simple pentatonic solos on Definitely Maybe--so simple I learned them by ear--but I suppose it makes sense that Niven wouldn't care for such solos. This whole volume, after all, essentially makes the case that Oasis' debut was a brief flourish of what real socialist brother- and sisterhood might look like, and guitar solos so obviously bring to mind the look-at-me egoism of 80s metal bands, clear counterpoints for capitalist excess. I also think Niven dismisses the wild majority of Oasis' post-Definitely Maybe output a bit too cavalierly. But, as I say, when you respect a writer's mind and phrasing, a little disagreement is not only okay but welcome. I read this book very quickly and did so with a nostalgic and appreciative smile on my face.

Love this book. I love this 33 1/3 series. If it's an album you're interested in, the book will enhance it

Excellent guidebook for those gentlemen going through the tough vicissitudes of divorce while working toward child custody. The prose in this book is down-to-earth, and thus the guidance Mr. Morefield gives is easy to follow, understand, and implement. It also gives great insight into what a gentleman will go through mentally to prepare for each step of the process and remain level headed and focused on what is best for the children. I highly recommend this guide to anyone experiencing this tough time in their life should they feel it is right for them and their children to pursue custody.

Straightforward, hard-hitting advice for dads in a custody battle for their children, or dads considering whether to fight for custody. I'm not an attorney, but am a big history buff and have read lots of court cases. Back when women had few or no career options, the courts leaned toward the mother when it came to matters child custody and child support, and this was good. But now in the 21st century, the situation has changed a lot from the "Leave it to Beaver" days when stay-at-home moms were the norm. But family law and the courts don't seem to have moved much, it at all. So a man who wants to win custody of his minor child/children in a divorce case is facing a system that was fine for our society in the 1950's but not necessarily so for today. In his "playbook" the author uses his difficult experience of his own prolonged custody battle and pulls no punches about the challenges single dads face when they engage the system. I like that he shows lots of respect for lawyers in his book as he refrains from characterizing them using the usual stereotypes. His advice for finding a good attorney and then working with them closely in a teamwork relationship is excellent. The author is clearly a devotee of military history and strategy, and gives lots of advice on strategy and tactics based on his knowledge of Sun-Tzu's "The Art of War" and other military strategists. So if you're a guy who has minor children and is getting a divorce or about to get involved in one, this book is for you. David Morefield "tells it like it is" and you'll find his advice and counsel indispensable as you undertake your heroic quest to do the right thing for your little children.

I loved David's book because it gives a clear factual way to deal with divorce when it involves children. He helps the reader to realize that standing firm for your child/children and letting them know how much you love them is the most important thing. Then he teaches you how to think smart in your decisions not vindictive or emotional. He also shares his experiences of learning to trust the Lord for every decision and for wisdom to make right decisions at a very emotional time. This book is beneficial for a father or mother facing the most difficult time in their lives. Children are a part of your heart.

I would highly recommend this book to any father that found themselves in this position of trying to get custody of their child. Mr. Morefield was very honest in his writings, stating his weaknesses and strengths and also giving credit to his family, friends and most importantly, God. The book was easy to read and understand and explained in details every scenario that he went thru. This book could truly be a help as it showed how this father experienced all the emotions he felt and all the different things he had to overcome but the main thing is that he never gave up and it paid off.

Very good and sound advice with guidance for those who are going through the most emotional hardest battle of their lives. With the amount of parental alienation in this world most of which is against fathers and the courts believe these mothers so much that it hinders the fathers ability to keep fighting the battle. Fathers need encouragement not to give up and this book provides an amazing testimony that God is in control and through him mountains will be moved. To soldier on, be wise and diligent but to always led God lead you.

Didn't grow up around seafood - so those dishes / recipes are never very appealing to me.The book title is accurate and all of the recipes are for Asian-style foods very familiar to the American palate.. (Asian-style because other buyers have given negative reviews as the recipes are not authentic / traditional Chinese dishes). Regardless, there are recipes for Thai, Korean dishes and maybe even Japanese and Vietnamese.Asian food does involve some prep work - cutting meat and vegetables into bite-size pieces, marinating the meat, filling dumpling and won ton skins, etc., so these recipes are easy and simple to follow (and lists of ingredients are usually short - basic ingredients plus a few seasonings), but do these recipes do require some time to (pre)-assemble. Cooking is always quick - steam or stir-fry or boil.If there are specific recipes that you want to learn how to make, then give this book a good preview, and if possible, look at a copy in a book store or library. You do get many simple to follow recipes, but maybe many you don't want to try or prefer not to make or the recipe you seek is not included.Again, it is a pan-Asian cookbook. Not 100% Chinese, nor 100% Korean nor 100% Thai, etc. It's not bad a book, but just not very useful to me.with only a handful of want-to-try / useful recipes.

My favorite cookbook ever. I have made the hot and sour soup several times and really enjoy making the rice dishes. I'm trying to grow my own spices for the flavorings. Easy to follow but very good recipes, Thai, Chinese, sushi, all my favorites. I bought a used cookbook, but it was in better shape than any of my own. LOVE IT.

This book is well designed. The recipes are clear and easy to follow, and the dishes are delicious!

This is the true story of Joyce Meyer's emotional deliverance from severe childhood sexual abuse. The details of the abuse are limited, but there is enough here to know that it was a regular occurrence, over many years, and included rape.At eighteen, Joyce married the first guy that came along to get out of the house, and he was extremely emotionally abusive. That marriage ended in divorce. Shortly thereafter she met Dave Meyer, a Spirit-filled Christian. They married after only a few dates, and Dave quickly realized that Joyce had a problem deep in her soul.They had children, and went to church every week, but things were still not good at home. Joyce was an angry, bitter and controlling person. Several years later, Joyce became Spirit-filled and felt the call to a deeper walk with God. She was led to in-depth Bible-study, and slowly began to confront her issues in a Biblical manner.I first read this book about 15 years ago. Although I had never experienced this type of abuse, I had some related problems. At the time, I thought the book was "nice", and perhaps somewhat helpful. I read it once and gave it away. I didn't think my problems were "that bad". I had my act together on the surface. I realize now I wasn't ready to confront the pain.Recently, I was led back to this book after an experience I know was a "wake-up call." I ordered the paperback from Amazon and dug in as soon as it arrived. I am discovering that you receive in abundance from God when you truly "dig in" like a starved person, not when you nibble like someone on a diet.I am almost finished, and looking forward to starting at the beginning, studying the Scriptures in-depth and putting them to practice in my life.For those in need of emotional healing, which is almost everyone, realize that this might book not be the only tool you will need. God may lead you to other resources. Keep in mind, also, the healing described here took place over years. Years.However if you are done with pity-parties and temper tantrums, if your addictions are just not working anymore, start here.

Love this book! I ordered this after hearing the podcast of Joyce's daily broadcasting speaking on the subject. This book along with a CD & DVD set was part of her monthly teaching offer. However, by the time I heard the message the offer was long over so I decided to get the Kindle version because it was cheaper than going to Joyce's site after the offer had expired.I never thought that I needed emotional healing for my past, I had always thought of healing in the physical sense. However, after hearing the broadcast and reading the book I realized how much damage had been done and how I have been affected by the actions of people in my life. Through this book and Joyce's testimony, God has started the healing process of my heart and emotions, so much so I went back to Joyce's site to order the package I mentioned earlier! This book made me weep, reflect, forgive and allow God to finally heal me of all the abuse, rejection, and pain of my past. Joyce not only explains how to get over it and why it's important in order to move on, but she also gives scripture after scripture on the matter. She shows how pain from your past can keep you in bondage and how Satan uses it to control you and your relationships and interactions with people. I recommend this book to anyone who has been hurt, rejected, and/or abused, and find themselves always reliving the pain, walking in unforgiveness, doing to others what has been done to them, or totally shutting people out. If you let it, this book along with the Holy Spirit will lead you to the freedom you seek.

Joyce Meyer had a great talent in helping people begin the road to healing after traumatic situations in life. She builds on scripture to help the average person understand why bad things happen to good people, and how God can use these trials to build us up and purify us. This book helped me personally to overcome the abuse of my childhood and to strengthen me and heal my soul so I can fully love and appreciate my husband.

I find this book so relatable. It was in reading it that I redevoted my life to Christ and chose to let God heal my past wounds. In just a weeks time it took me, the peace and joy God has given me is unmeasureable. I'm so glad Joyce chose to write this and reach so many people. Thank you.

Love this book by Joyce. I ordered this for a young lady in prison who has become my pen pal. She was sexually abused by her grandfather for years. I felt the Lord wanted her to have this to know He would bring healing to her life as He has with Joyce Meyers and many others. She wrote me saying she couldn't put this book down.

I was not abused like Joyce. However I recommend this book to anyone who grew up with family distinction, addiction, or controlling parents. The principals can be applied to all those situations.

This book truly gave me breakthrough. Mind changing. Spirit breaking. This is a book that can help you break free. Do not waste your money on this silly excuse for a travel guide, it's a complete WOFTAM. It reads more like a "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" school report by a 7th grader. This "travel guide" is 98 pages of extra large font (normal size font would have yielded maybe 25 pages of text, at a stretch), simple sentences sprinkled with numerous grammatical errors, and plenty of fill and repetition, resulting in very little valuable information, most of which appears to be gathered from Iceland tourism websites. The 15 or so uninteresting fuzzy b&w photos add little - don't be fooled by the front cover. The author is perfectly honest, even indicating that his trip to Iceland (or at least part of it) was with a group tour - there's nothing wrong with that, except that this text belongs in the realm of a personal vacation journal or a travel blog. The dishonest part is that he's selling this trivia for the price of a normal book when it's worth nothing, and having read it cover to cover in 30 minutes or less you'll wonder why you wasted your time and money. The author ends the book with this cryptic line: "Take it from it. It truly is."Huh? Is this yet another typo or grammatical error? Or is he referring to taking your money? In my case, the book's being returned, pronto. Don't trust the 5 star reviews, they were probably written by members of the author's tour group that he sent free copies to in exchange for glowing reviews.

The author has perhaps visited Iceland but provided no tips or information that is more easily found on the internet.
