I just got back into stamp collection after 20 years away from the hobby. I needed a reference source to determine what I had to purchase in order to bring my collection back up to date and to to see where prices had gone.After looking at the prices of some other catalogs (and nearly going into shock) I decided to give Harris a try. Maybe there is something in the more expensive catalogs that this one lacks but, for the average collection on a budget, I can't imagine what it's lacking.If you're a big-time collector or just have the extra money to spend, I'm sure that Scott offers some benefits to the Harris. For the price difference it should. For me, the Harris gives me everything that I need at a bargain price.The spiral binding is both a blessing and a curse. It lies nice and flat, but the pages can be a little difficult to turn.
It is what it says it is although I was taken a little aback when I found out it was actually a sales catalog for a particular seller. Being new to postage collecting I didn't realize this going in.Not all items in the USPS catalog were covered and some of the pricing is skewed towards the seller's "sell price" so it is not necessarily the most complete listing available. The good part about the catalog is it does explain much of the terminology used to describe stamps which is lacking in other sources.It is a very good reference book but I would not advise it as a stand alone reference.
This stamp catalog is the bargain of the decade. Colorful, easy to read, thorough and easy to manage when working on stamp collection. I purchased the 2011, now 2012 and I will be first in line for the 2013. I give the year old volumes to my grandson. It is his favorite book. I can't imagine any suggestions that would improve this catalog.
This item is very complete with a great deal of information and very nice colored photos. However, the wire bindings make it difficult to page the catalog and have the pages lay flat. Very easy to tear the pages when leafing through it.

The US/BNA 2012 Postage Stamp catalog is just what I needed to reference my stamp collection and look for missing stamps along the way. The design and presentation are perfect with just one exception. With each years exhibit of US commemoratives through year 2006, there was a price quote of all of that year's commemorative'sAfter year 2006 it stopped. I contacted the publisher who said they would update the book and email me the collective price quotes. It never happened! Therefore 4 out of 5 stars. Am I to generous?
